CACTUS JUNGLE
This was our last stop today. We picked up an Aloe Plicatilis which we’ve affectionately renamed “the Dalai Lama”. While we were there, the shopkeeper (owner?) told us about this huge cactus plant that was 65 years old that they rescued from a home that the city was going to bulldoze because the owner had died and they didn’t know what else to do with the plants. It was a huge cactus plant and they were selling it for $3,200. Pretty nuts. I sort of want to get a small version and see it grow to that size in 65 years! And then sell it for $3,200! Haha just kidding about the selling part. I’m not heartless.
SUCCULENCE
This was the second stop on our succulent/garden tour today. This place is sort of hidden (but not really since there’s a ton of cacti and succulents in the window) but it’s at the back of Four Star Video. What’s neat about this place is that they sell a lot of the supplies (glass jars, dyed moss, stones, plants, branches) so that you can build your own terraniums and gardens.
FLORA GRUBB GARDENS
Finally got a chance to check this cool place out today, it was even better than I expected! A lot of the stuff is on the pricey side but it’s a great space to walk around, gives you good ideas about how to lay things out, and introduces you to cool new plants to consider adding to your home.
We picked up a bright green leafy plant — it’ll be our first indoor plant since moving to the bay. I’ll snap a photo once it’s properly potted.
